In the NCAA Hoops Final Four the only thing that happened with Virginia is they won and they did it because Auburn was stupid enough to do a foul when you DON’T do a foul. I watched College Hoops from day one this year til the end and you do not foul the last shot of a team.
So far the baseball league is hitting so many homers now they practically hit them after the game is over and when the teams are sleeping in bed. The game is really becoming homers and strikeouts and that is to the detriment of what used to be a beautiful game to watch. If you could watch the highlights of the 1985 World Series you would see what beauty baseball can have.
In Hockey – it appears both Winnipeg and Toronto are planning to forgo the whole getting momentum going into the playoffs. Not certain losing most of the last games is a great plan for playoff success.
Ovechkin got his 50 which is pretty good in this scoring is not considered a good thing anymore league.
In College Hoops – can’t say I saw Texas Tech beating Zaga in any way shape or form but that is why this is madness. I believe Duke now has an unfettered path to the championship.
In Baseball – Harper hit his first dinger and now I am betting Topps issues 30 cards of that event. Their first 2 days of Harper cards were Harper jogging out of the dugout and Harper jogging in from the outfield. You can get the outfield jog card with a piece of jersey for about 200 bucks if you are insane.
Speaking of baseball cards, I am still gobsmacked by the card that was issued showing Trout signing his contract. Does anyone really want to collect that?
Great to have baseball back, now just want spring weather to enjoy with it!
Well I watched four days of amazing hoops and enjoyed the sights, let me tell ya.
The play of Ja Morant for two games really showed everyone he is ready to perform on the next level.
There is a basketball god and it worked for Duke on Sunday when that ball rolled everywhere around the bucket but down through it to keep Duke alive when UCF was THAT close to winning.
I think the AAC can be proud and they proved that their conference is as just as good as the ‘big ones’.
I have to admit Zion did put on quite the show last night in leading Duke to their first win over UNC this year. The man did show his stuff and I would think NBA teams are drooling over the first lottery pick this year.
It is funny how some years when your fave NBA team has a top pick the pickings are ‘slim’. It would seem this year with Zion, Ja and RJ the first three lotto picks are going to do pretty darn well in the draft.
Well I took the weekend off writing to watch sports.
Have really enjoyed #ChampWeek so far. Ja Morant is all he is supposed to be and if there is any question about Zion’s health, he can only move up in the draft.
How stupid are NCAA Hoops coaches to still be doing illegal payoff talks and get caught on yet more FBI wire taps? Didn’t Louisville’s fall open anyone’s eyes?
Heck am even enjoying the Briar in Men’s Curling – I do love a game of angles.
Oh and watching Pepperdine explode against SF makes me excited to see them take on Gonzaga in the WCC semi Monday night.
17 losses in a row. Let that one sink in. 17 losses in a row.
Their coach, channeling his Captain Obvious stated ‘We’re overdue for a win’. They lost their best player, Garland, and the season fell off the stage.
One would think this comes to coaching. You have at least 10 other guys, a modicum of coaching ability might get them to come around after a few weeks but to lose 17 in a row?
One player can’t be the difference between belonging in Division I and being a Division III team.
Well Duke lost again but it’s ok – gawd almighty (Zion) missed the game and therefore – that doesn’t count.
Kentucky was seriously challenged by a game Arkansas but managed to pull out the win. That shows courage and guts aplenty. I am getting impressed with Kentucky.
LSU got the win over A&M but I may be forever raising an eyebrow about LSU after that call in the Tennessee game by THAT referee.
Indiana’s upset of Wisconsin must have the Hoosier State dancing and that may make Wisconsin’s path through the Dance a little tougher now.
With Memphis taking down Temple this should mean Temple is now on the outside looking in and maybe just maybe San Fran or St. Mary’s can get a slide into the play in games?
