Baseball Thoughts: Chris Sale and Whit Merrifield #baseball #MLB

So the Red Sox paid Chris Sale 145 million but won’t pay Mookie Betts.  I don’t have concerns based on Sale’s record this year, I have concerns based on his egregious health issues over the past two seasons.  Me thinks the money would have been better spent partially paying Betts.

The talk of baseball is ‘Will Merrifield reach DiMaggio’s hit streak?’ and the answer is a resounding NO.  You can’t have a hit streak that gives you 4 to 5 months rest.  Did Merrifield get a hit every day in spring games? Don’t they count too?  So silly.

You don’t get credit for 20 wins by winning 16 in 2018 and 4 in 2019.  A record in a season is a RECORD In season. End of story.

By the way, there is better chance of snow in NYC in July than Merrifield getting to 56 even with his split season thing.

A Thought From Tuesday’s Royals/Reds Game #MLB #Royals #Reds #baseball

The game was an odd one in that Ian Kennedy again looked like he was still a major league pitcher and Kelvin Herrera blew a save but be that as it may…

In extras, there were two Reds on and the ball was ground back to the pitcher and Billy Hamilton was caught in a rundown. He was between third and home and went back and forth and was about to be tagged out when he dodged back to evade. He was about four feet out of the baseline; since it’s not reviewable, he was safe.

How can someone egregiously break the rules and impact an outcome of a game and that not be reviewable? If someone looks out of the baseline, they are OUT of the baseline and they are out. End of story.
